Black streaks, algae, leaf debris and old roof stains make a roof look older than it is. Roof Refresh is our roof-safe cleaning and prep service for Central Florida roofs before maintenance, asphalt shingle rejuvenation, or insurance-age documentation.

  • No pressure washing
  • Algae and stain removal
  • Rejuvenation prep
  • Roof-age photo documentation
Cleaning vs. Rejuvenation

Cleaning Makes the Roof Readable. Rejuvenation Reconditions the Shingle.

Roof cleaning and asphalt shingle rejuvenation are related, but they are not the same service. Cleaning removes the organic buildup, black streaking, loose debris and surface contamination that hide the real condition of the roof.

Shingle rejuvenation is a separate treatment for qualifying asphalt shingles. That treatment uses bio-based oil chemistry, commonly soybean-oil based in this industry, to help restore flexibility and improve granule adhesion on aging but serviceable shingles.

Important: We do not use another company's trademarked service name on this page. Roof Refresh is State Certified Roofing's plain-English name for roof-safe cleaning and prep.

What Sarge Looks For Before Cleaning

A roof should be inspected before it is cleaned. A badly deteriorated shingle roof can be damaged by the wrong method, even if the cleaner itself is good.

1. Roof Condition Check

We check brittleness, loose granules, lifted tabs, cracked shingles, flashing, pipe boots, valleys and decking concerns before any cleaning plan is recommended.

2. Low-Pressure Cleaning

No pressure washing. The goal is to remove algae and organic buildup without blasting away granules or forcing water under the shingle laps.

3. Maintenance Notes

After the roof is clean, Sarge can see what actually needs attention: sealant, boots, lifted shingles, fascia, soffit, gutters, or rejuvenation candidacy.

Insurance-Age Strategy

The 2011 Roof Problem

A lot of Central Florida roofs installed around 2011 are now entering the 15-year insurance conversation. Cleaning alone does not certify a roof, but it can reveal whether maintenance or rejuvenation is worth pursuing before replacement.

Start With Age

How old is your roof? If it is around 10 to 18 years old, the right path may be maintenance, rejuvenation, recertification, or replacement.

Then Check Condition

Heavy granule loss, brittle tabs, curling, multiple leaks or soft decking are replacement signals. Cleaner, flexible, serviceable shingles may still have options.

Document the Work

Photos, condition notes and a written summary help homeowners keep a roof-age file before a carrier letter becomes a deadline.

Straight Answer

Cleaning Will Not Save a Failed Roof

If a roof is bald, brittle, leaking throughout, curling, cupping, or structurally soft, cleaning and rejuvenation are not the answer. That roof needs a replacement conversation.

If the roof is dirty but still sound, cleaning can make the roof inspectable, improve appearance, and prepare the surface for maintenance or shingle rejuvenation.

Want Sarge To Look At It First?

Send the age of the roof, a few photos, and whether you have an insurance letter. Sarge will tell you whether cleaning, rejuvenation, recertification, or replacement is the honest next step.
